A City Not to be Underestimated

So this weekend I had fortunate enough to have a few friends from my Residence Hell on campus head to Detroit for a short trip. Against what I later consider ill advice to avoid it. Three of them were from “The ‘D,’” so I was in good hands.

At first, the origins and influences are apparent. Driving by Pontiac dealing through the myriad of roads.

Heidelberg Project

First stop was out away from the city to what is called the Heidelberg Project. At first I wasn’t as surprised to see the economic and social toll on the city.

Eastern Market

Small glimpse. A lot more in Summer on the outside. Reminds me a bit of Victoria Market in Melbourne.

Detroit paraphernalia.

A little corner of Detroit, with some excellent food and with some awesome sweets.
